Physical properties:

-Teak, though easily worked,

-can cause severe blunting on edged tools because of the presence of silica in the wood.

-Teak's natural oils make it useful in exposed locations.

-Teak is durable even when not treated with oil or varnish.

-Natural resins give teak boards their famous ability to resist moisture, termites, acid and fungus

-The high resin content helps teak resist warping and cracking

-High silica content gives its decking boards a natural non-slip coating

Uses:

-Outdoor furniture and windows.

- Boat decks, and other purposes where weather resistance is desired.

- Also used for outdoor and indoor flooring.
